Job Description:

The Architectural Building Information Model (BIM) Specialist leads the implementation of BIM technology and research & development, helping Connect Homes better adapt BIM to a true manufacturing/assembly-line modality. The Architectural BIM Specialist provides direction and leadership to Project Teams, Engineering Department, and Fabrication Design Team. The Architectural BIM Specialist works closely with the senior members of design teams, particularly the Project Director, Product Director, and Fabrication Design Manager to ensure project delivery utilizing BIM. The Architectural BIM Specialist will be active in developing the project BMP (BIM Management Plan) including identifying goals and objectives for the utilization of BIM and monitor the progress of the BIM from the project initiation through factory production to final delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and development of BIM processes, policies, protocols, and workflows
  • Collaborates with the fabrication design manager in developing a BMP (BIM Management Plan) for each product.
  • Collaborates with the product director in setting up each upcoming product in BIM
  • Collaborates with the factory’s engineering department, production team, and product director to identify issues and provide tools and strategies using BIM
  • Coordinates BIM software training for staff and monitors staff BIM experience levels
  • Coordinates BIM-related communication between Connect Homes and Consultants
  • Coordinates firm-wide technologies, standards, and guidelines with other non-design related departments (engineering, procurement, construction teams)
  • Monitors the models for quality and content throughout the project delivery process and at specific project delivery milestones
  • Identifies and evaluates productivity gains to be made utilizing third-party software
  • Research, development, and training for any factory operated machinery using BIM
  • Develops system integration between BIM and other construction and management software
  • Primary contact with the vendor and other BIM related technical support
  • Monitors and tracks team compliance with Connect Homes BIM standards and guidelines
  • Document and communicate best practices and workflows
  • Support interoperability between multiple software applications
  • When working with others collaborate as a team player
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as required by management

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in an architectural related field; professional architectural degree or master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design development, construction documentation, and detailing on a wide variety of project types
  • General knowledge of integrated architectural and engineering practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Autodesk Revit
  • Advanced to Expert level knowledge with Dynamo
  • Advanced to Expert level knowledge with Navisworks
  • Advanced to Expert level knowledge with Microsoft applications especially MS Office
  • Advanced to Expert level knowledge with writing Python, C#, .NET, DesignScript, or other applicable scripting languages
  • Advanced to Expert level knowledge with the Revit API
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality through attention to detail
  • Superior organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Previous experience with residential product types is preferred
  • Experience with project planning and tracking.
  • MS Project or similar project management tool a plus
  • Experience with the operation of information technology systems
