Acelab is looking for a curious and motivated design technology associate with an inclination towards architectural technology who is excited about defining the next frontier of digital tools adopted in the architectural practice. This is also a learning opportunity on two fronts— you will be able to strengthen your knowledge about building products and professional practice, and also be exposed to working in a new-age high-growth startup environment. Acelab was co-founded by two architects from Harvard and MIT to reduce the busywork that architects have to deal with and increase the time actually spent on meaningful work— so design thinking is a big part of the company's DNA. You will be expected to bring the rigor of an architectural studio and combine that with the agility of software startups. Additionally, this is a great networking opportunity to meet with the who’s who of the design technology space in New York City and work with highly reputable architecture firms in the region.
Developing an understanding of Acelab’s novel building product categorization system.
Researching existing building product manufacturers and their product offerings.
Collaborating with product developers and market researchers to understand existing products.
Uploading publicly-listed building products into Acelab’s database.
Suggesting possible functionality improvements to the platform’s upload portal.
Completed B.Arch or equivalent industry experience
Clear communication skills and a good work ethic
Interest in getting to experience the business development phase of a fast-paced start-up
Available to work part-time continuing into the upcoming academic year
Preliminary understanding of building product assemblies and pro practice
